Probert - v - Quinton Hazell plc | Keyboard use: form filling | De Quervain's Syndrome | 1998 | Coventry County | Defendant |
The Judgment in this case does not bear a date but it is known to have been some time in 1998. The Plaintiff alleged that her typing and administrative duties as an Export Documentation Supervisor caused chronic Tenosynovitis in 1990. However, it is clear from the Judgment that it was common ground between the medical experts called that the Plaintiff had De Quervain's Tenosynovitis. It is also clear from the Judgment that the Plaintiff used both an electronic typewriter and a VDU, the former more than the latter.
The central issue in this case was causation, on which the Judge found that the Plaintiff had failed to establish that her condition was caused by her employment. He also found that the Defendant had not been negligent. This case does not appear to have received any coverage in the national press.
